Councilor Alexander Cruz Sta. Maria or "Doc Alex" to his friends and constituents was born on July 31, 1971. Doc Alex is an Ophthalmologist by profession and a Diplomate of the Philippine Board of Ophthalmology. He is an Associate Professor II at the Our Lady of Fatima University - College of Medicine and Proprietor of Sta. Maria Eye Clinic.
Doc Alex is also an Active Consultant of Fatima Medical Center; Chairman, Nazarenus Cataract Center; and Senior Consultant of Borough Medical Clinic Institute.
Councilor Sta. Maria took his secondary, tertiary and medical studies from the Pontifical and Royal University of Sto. Tomas in Manila.
As a first termer Councilor, his legislative agenda hopes to address various social services giving priority to youth and health related policies, programs and directions. He believes that each and every Mandaleño deserves the best medical care and attention, and should be given efficient delivery of basic services.
As the 2009 Chapter President of Mandaluyong Jaycees, he spearheaded numerous programs and projects in the City such as medical and dental missions, various sports development projects, and regular free cataract screening and surgery in different barangays an activity which he intends to continue during his tenure.
He is happily married to Christine Mojares-Sta. Maria and is blessed with three children namely, Beatrice, Hannah and Kelsie.
Councilor Sta. Maria hails from Barangay Hulo, son of the late Engineer Hipolito B. Sta. Maria - a former Barangay Councilman of Hulo and UST professor, and Dr. Antonina C. Sta. Maria - a PUP professor. |
